Although the entrance fees are expensive, Chester Zoo is a great day out (If you live nearby - an annual family pass is a great idea for unlimited returns). There is a new cafe, great activities & facilities for kids of all ages and lots to learn abut the animals.

We love Chester Zoo, but the cafe prices are very expensive so when we go we always take a picnic to enjoy and sit at one of the many picnic benches, take plenty of drinks too in a cool box as it is thirsty work walking all around the zoo!
